KAYSVILLE a€" Karen Carlene (Dopp) Cardon passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 after a valiant battle with cancer.

She attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School. She then enrolled in the nursing program at Weber State College, and fulfilled a lifetime dream when she became a Registered Nurse.

While working at the old Dee Hospital in Ogden she met Richard Cardon. They later married and were blessed with two children, son Rick and daughter Cherish. Cherish lived for only a few hours and Carlene was excited to be able to have her once again. Carlene and Rick later divorced.

Carlene''s nursing career took her to private hospitals in California and Washington. She returned to Utah and retired from the Salt Lake City Veteran''s Hospital with over 20 years of service.

She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she greatly enjoyed her associations with the members of the Kaysville Crestwood Ward.

She was an avid reader. She loved her many nieces and nephews and always enjoyed getting together on holidays and special occasions.

She is survived by her son Rick of Kaysville; brother Bruce (Marlene) Dopp of Syracuse; and sister Marie Renteria of Ogden. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Cherish.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 13, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Crestwood Ward, 1039 E. Crestwood Road. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
