Karen Lorraine Stoddard Duersch

December 13, 1947 ~ July 30, 2017

Karen Lorraine Stoddard Duersch, 69, of West Point, Utah passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2017 after a valiant battle with cancer.

She was born December 13, 1947 to Howard and Jennie Stoddard. She graduated from Clearfield High School in 1966.

Karen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings including Primary teacher, Primary president and Young Women’s president.

She was an excellent cook and couldn’t be happier when her house was full of family. She had dinner at her house for every special occasion. All of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the twinkle in her eye. She was the center of her family’s universe and the glue that bound them together.

Karen worked as a school cook for many years before going to work at H.A.F.B. In 1992, she accompanied her husband to work as civilians on Kadena A.F.B. in Okinawa, Japan. She loved being the secretary for the Colonels for the 353rd Special Operations Group. When she moved back to Utah, she got her dream job working for the Second District Court, having held different positions, her favorite by far was being the clerk for Judge Michael Allphin whom she had total admiration for. She retired in January 2017.

Karen leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Leslie; their three children: Darren and Sue, of Clearfield; Brett and Stacy, of Syracuse; Cami and Jim Rodgers, of West Point; step-son, Randy Duersch; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; her father, Howard Stoddard, two siblings, Brent (Kitty) Stoddard, Sharon (Mike) Richey, all of West Point; as well as many loving extended family members. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jennie Stoddard and one grandson, Jordan Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the West Point 16th Ward, 4383 W. 300 N., West Point, Utah. The family will meet with friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, West Point Cemetery.
