Karen Ames Florence

Karen Ames Florence, known affectionately as "Kricket," passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023, at the age of 72. She was born on June 30, 1951, in Afton, Wyoming to the late William Ardell Ames and Donna Brown Ames.

Karen’s journey was marked by resilience. She survived being born prematurely with her twin sister Sharon, who passed away hours after being born. Then at a young age, she faced and conquered tuberculosis of the spine, a battle that showcased her unwavering determination and resilience. This early challenge would set the stage for a life defined by her fierce tenacity.

Music was one of Karen's greatest passions. She had a remarkable talent for playing the piano. Whether it was the soothing notes of a classical piece or the joyous tunes of a hymn, her music touched the souls of those around her.

Karen was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, providing her with comfort, guidance, and a strong sense of community.

The family would like to thank Annette with Applegate Hospice, the amazing staff and her friends at Hidden Valley Assisted Living for the care and friendship they gave her while residing there.

Karen is survived by her two sons, Brandon Florence and Alex S. (Christy) Florence; sisters, Frances (Jim) Ames Richards, Stacey Laraine (Alfred) Alfonso, and Shannon (Carlos) Ledezma; and brother, Evan (Kathryn) Ames. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Stanley K. Florence; her parents, Adrell and Donna Ames; sister, LeaRae Ames; and nephew, Weston Ledezma.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 11 to 12 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
