Karen Drue Gay, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025, in Perry, Utah. Karen was born on May 10, 1939, in Ogden to Frank and Drue Douglas and spent most of her life in Huntsville, Utah, on a horse ranch. Spring was her favorite time of year, when foals were born and flowers began to bloom.
She had a kind and caring heart, forming many close friendships throughout her life. Karen had a deep love for planes and trains—she would light up with excitement whenever she heard or saw them. She also loved being outdoors, especially watching and feeding hummingbirds, which she could do for hours. Karen valued hard work and instilled this trait in her children.
Music brought her joy, and she was always happy. She often said she believed there was gold at the end of the rainbow. One day, she got in her car and simply drove and drove, hoping to find it.
Karen was a true patriot with a strong love for the USA. She never saw a flag pass by without a tear in her eye.
Karen married Roger Golightly, they later divorced. She later married Larry Gay.
Karen is survived by her children, Scott Golightly (Eileen Gonzales), Karen (Dee) Schumers, John (Holly) Golightly, Jodi (Rob) Pendley and Jami (Paul) Anderson; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Joan (George) Earl; and brother-in-law, Thayer Christensen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents; and her sister, Sue Christensen.
