Karen Holmes Groberg

OGDEN – Karen Holmes Groberg was born at St. Benedict’s Hospital in Ogden, Utah on October 16, 1957, and passed away in her sleep at home on April 9, 2017. She graduated from Roy High School in 1975.
She married the love of her life, Douglas Preston Groberg in Hawaii on 10-10-10. It was the happiest day in their lives. They made their home together in Farr West, Utah, and were completely devoted to each other. She gave birth to three beautiful children, and later was a wonderful step-mother to two more.
Karen was a lifelong caregiver in many capacities, and was always serving others. She volunteered at the Farr West senior center. She loved to make arts and crafts of all types including wood kits, ceramics, and coloring for all holidays and special occasions. She delighted in crafting special homemade birthday and holiday cards, and surprising people with special gifts. She enjoyed league bowling and was an avid Jazz fan for many years. She also enjoyed watching the ID channel and interesting videos online. Recently she was closely following the Giraffe Cam, anxiously watching for April the giraffe to give birth. She also enjoyed playing puzzle games, word challenges, and games online. She connected with, and was loved by people around the world. Karen had a special loving soul, and was always thinking of others. She will be missed and remembered by everyone who knew her.
Karen is survived by her husband, Doug Groberg; her children, Angie (Kent) Duncombe, Jeremy Crawford, and Dustin Crawford; step-children, Chris Groberg, and Sarah Groberg; her brother, Larry (Sherrie) Holmes; sister, Diana (Mike) Whiting; sister-in-law, Sandy Holmes; several nieces and nephews, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father, C Dean Holmes; her mother, Alvina (Vi) Maser Holmes; and her brother, Rob Holmes.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd, Ogden, Utah, 84403.
