Our beloved mother, sister, friend, and “Nana”, Karen Ruth Arnold Muirbrook, passed away surrounded by loved ones at the age of 82, on Monday, April 15, 2024. Karen was born June 25, 1941, to William Jack and Ruby Anderton Arnold in Coalville, Utah.
Karen married her sweetheart Gordon Knight Muirbrook on November 14, 1958, in Ogden, Utah. They were sealed for time and all eternity as a family in the Ogden Temple April 16, 1992.
She loved our Savior, Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving the Lord as a Primary Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, Cub Scout Leader, Camp Director, Visiting Teacher, Young Women-Beehives, Mia Maids, and Laurels, Golden Gleaner Advisor, Nursery Leader, and a Service Mission in 2011 at the Ogden Family History Center.
Karen worked at IRS for 32 years, her favorite area she worked in was Course Designer and Instructor, for which she received many awards. She had many friends and colleagues; she cherished her relationships with them.
She was very talented and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and making crafts to share with her friends and family. She was very hardworking and instilled that in her children and grandchildren. She always reminded her children before leaving the house to “Remember who you are.” Followed by, “You are a Muirbrook.” Reminding them that they were a reflection on their family. She enjoyed going camping and traveling with her children and grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her children whom she called her “Jewels”, Gordon Scott and Shauna Muirbrook, Bambi and Dale Tracy, Chris and Michelle Muirbrook, and Chelli and Cary Allen. She is also survived by many who call her “Nana” including her ten special “Angels” and “Buddies” and 13 bonus grandchildren, she had an amazing influence on each of their lives. She loved getting to spend time with her 34 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Barbara Berry, Stan (Sherri) Arnold and Marilyn (Doug) George and a sister-in-law, Maurine Call.
She was preceded in death and reunited with her “Lil Blue Man” and eternal companion, Gordon Knight Muirbrook; her parents, Jack and Ruby Arnold; in-laws, Joseph and Viola Muirbrook; her sister, DeeAnn Talbot; her brother-in-law, Rick Berry; along with many other brother and sisters-in-law, friends and other family members.
May we always remember her with love and gratitude, as said in her favorite verse about love, “The Miracle of Love is that Love is given to us… to give to one Another.”
We would like to thank her friends at The Lodge at North Ogden and A Plus Hospice for their love and care of Karen.
