"TOGETHER AGAIN"
Karen Marie Porter
August 24, 1938 ~ May 6, 2018
Our Beloved Mother, Karen Marie Porter, completed her earthly journey and passed through the veil into the arms of her sweetheart, Rey, on Sunday May 6, 2018. What a wonderful reunion this must have been for them.
Karen was born 24 August 1938 in Salt Lake City to Martinus and Stella Eva Barfuss Barton.
She learned how to be a hard worker at a young age often tending to their animals and large vegetable garden. Karen attended Weber County Schools graduating from Weber High in 1956. She served an LDS Mission to London, England.
Shortly after returning from her mission, she met the love of her life, Rey Porter, at a church dance and after a brief courtship, they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 14, 1964.
Her greatest accomplishment in life was being a wife and mother. Together they had four children, three sons and one daughter.
Karen was a Faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved serving in the church in various capacities but her favorite was teaching the children in Primary and Nursery. She loved going Visiting teaching and caring for the Sisters she taught and also attending the Temple regularly.
Karen loved going camping, going to family reunions and spending time with her kids and grandkids. They were the highlight of her life! She loved to host her family every summer in Preston, Idaho for the annual parade and rodeo. Mom was always doing things for others and making everyone feel special.
She is survived by her children: Bruce (Sandra) Porter, Roy; Jeff (Annissa) Porter, Tremonton; Darin (Brenda) Porter, Roy; and Sherlene (Micah) Womack, Roy; five stepchildren: George, Kathy, Randy, Danny, and Brent; 14 grandchildren, with one on the way, seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd and Dean Barton; and two sisters, Juanita Child and Marjorie Foote. She was preceded in death by her husband Rey, her parents, two brothers, Wes and Keith Barton and one sister, June Barton and grandson, Caden Womack.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Roy Utah West Stake Center, 5080 S 3100 W. The family will meet with friends Monday, May 14th from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 South and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center.
