Karen Ann Stephens (Day, Mortensen)
KAYSVILLE - An independent, fun loving, free spirit; Karen passed away on July 5, 2007 at her parents home due to cancer.
Karen was born to Lowell M. and Luain Morgan Stephens on March 22, 1952. Raised on Mutton Hollow Road in Kaysville, she enjoyed a rural childhood filled with horseback riding, cutter-races and camping. Moving into a fast-paced adulthood she enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, golf, dart playing, gardening and horseback riding.
Karen lived her life fearlessly and we will miss her strong independence, her confidence and enthusiasm, her sharp wit, humor, determination and forthright approach to life; and always her endearing and generous smile. Her seven grandchildren, who she treasured, will miss her creativity, willingness to play games, give constant hugs and work endless puzzles. Karen truly spent her life doing everything her own way and has seen more than most, loved more than a few, and has excited, exasperated and enjoyed the company of almost everyone she met.
Karen was preceded in death by the love of her life Steven Kempf as well as her grandparents.
She is survived by her parents Lowell M. and Luain Morgan Stephens, her children; Shae (Kevin) Sheridan, Lamar (Taryn) Day, Jacob (Ashly) Mortensen, seven grandchildren, Tayden, Kaydance, Madison, Logan, Landon, Avarie and Branson. Also surviving are two brothers, Larry (Leann) Stephens, Allen (Shari) Stephens and one sister, Cindy (Craig) Thurgood.
