Karleen Vidinhar, age 89, of Layton, Utah, passed away on April 24, 2025, at the Sunridge Assisted Living facility.
Karleen was born in Provo, Utah, on January 24, 1936, to James Arthur & Vidella Riding Ivie.
Karleen moved to Layton when she was thirteen years old to live with her Uncle Elmer and his family. Four years later, she moved with them to Hickam AFB in Hawaii. She attended W F Farrington High School and graduated in 1954. She went on to attend the Honolulu Technical School 1954-1956. This is where she met her husband, Raymond Vidinhar. They were married December 14, 1955, in the Laie Hawaii Temple. They later moved to Florida and then to Layton, Utah where they raised their family.
Karleen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints and served in various positions during her lifetime.
Karleen loved her family and served us in so many ways. She watched our children so we could work and play. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren have many sweet memories of their time with grandma.
Karleen worked hard all her life and taught her children to work hard. Two of the main jobs she had were packing chips at Clover Club Foods and making all the yummy salads for the Hill Air Force Base Restaurant.
Karleen is survived by her children and their spouses, LeiNani (Lonnie) Adams, Luana (Scott) Pierce, Lamond (Yvette) Vidinhar and Rayleen (Tom) Allen; brother, Stewart (Pat) Ivie; sisters Evelyn O’Brian, Miriam Jordan and sister-in-law Sue Ivie; brother-in-law Stanley Vidinhar. Karleen has 13 living grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Karleen was predeceased by her parents, James Arthur & Vidella Riding Ivie. Her husband, Raymond Vidinhar. Her siblings and their spouses, Ruth Ivie (Dan) Newell, Rey (Shurley) Ivie, Glenna (Don) Carlson, Carmen Ivie, and brother-in-law Lawrence Jordan and 3 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 5, 2025 at 11:00 am at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N Fairfield Rd, Layton, where friends and family may visit from 9:30-10:45 am prior to services.
