Karrie Harkness

February 11, 1971 — June 2, 2020

To encompass a person’s entire life in a few paragraphs of an obituary is difficult. To capture the life of Karrie Ann Harkness in any written form, is impossible. Author Lauren Klarfeld once said, “Remember that people are only guests in your story- the same way you are only a guest in theirs- so make the chapters worth reading.” Karrie lost her life unexpectantly June 2nd, 2020, but if her life was a book it would’ve been one worth reading.

Karrie was born on February 11th, 1971 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. From the moment she was born to the moment of her passing she was a story to tell. Her green eyes and big smiles always brightened the darkest of rooms. She loved to roller skate, go camping, and float the river. She could always be caught listening and singing along to her favorite 80’s music. Speaking of the 80’s, she never quite grew out that decade’s hair style. Karrie loved motorcycle rides, road trips and coffee. But what she loved the most… was her family. It is impossible to fully capture all her loves. Her mother often explained Karrie as having a Gypsy soul which speaks volumes about Karrie’s character.

Her family and friends were all she ever spoke about. She loved them all deeply and never missed an opportunity to be there for them. Her daughter Kierra referred to her as “a free spirit”. Kierra said, “She was kindhearted and always very sympathetic.” When asked about her mother, Aubrie said, “I love the way her hugs took away your pain. The way her loving words could cure a sad soul. She was the empty pages to my open book.” These loving words are a testament to the person Karrie was… a mother, a grandmother, a friend, and a healer of souls.

Karrie was survived by her mother Dale, daughters Kierra and Aubrie, son Shawn, brother Bill, her two sisters Melissa and Staci, and her two grandsons Liam and Jagger.
