Kash Maughan

April 12, 2007 — February 10, 2025

Kash Maughan, our sweet boy, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his family and loved ones, in the afternoon on Feb. 10, 2025, in West Haven, UT. His sweet spirit touched so many people in so many ways throughout his life. His unconditional love and a knowledge of exactly who he was is such a great example to all who associated with him. He will be missed terribly by us all. But we are happy to know that he is free from the cares of this life and all the struggles he had. He completed his earthly mission that he willingly accepted from his Heavenly Father. We look forward with faith and hope of a joyous reunion with him one day.

Kash was born in Layton, Utah, April 12, 2007, to Eric Sykes Maughan and Debbie K. Madsen. He was the youngest of four children, and they lived in Roy, Utah. Kash was born with a neuro-muscular disease which required him to be in the hospital for the first 5 months of his life. He was sent home on a ventilator and given 2 months to live. As we all know now, this is where Kash began his life journey of proving everyone wrong and defying all odds. The little baby that barely moved began to smile and wave those little arms and legs to the surprise of everyone, and he just took off from there. Kash was also handicapped and would never be able to walk on his own. But this didn’t stop him at all. He began driving his electric wheelchair when he was just 2 years old. His wheelchair became his legs, and the horn became his voice. He loved his wheelchair and considered it as part of who he was. He also began to learn sign language and soon was able to communicate with his family who learned right alongside him. In August 2011, Kash and his parents moved into the perfect home and sanctuary for him until he passed, in West Haven, Utah. Kash was a very honest and sincere person. He was compassionate, loving, and was always so happy. He never once doubted himself. He loved all things Disney when he was younger and went to Disneyland many times. But then as he grew into those teenage years, YouTube became his passion. He had a channel and would create videos with his dad and post them often. He always said he wanted to be a “YouTuber” when he grew up. He loved getting cuddles and kisses from his mom; he was her “Bug”. He also loved video games, Power Rangers, Spider Man, and Teen Titans Go. Imagine Dragons and Daft Punk were his favorite bands, and he also loved dancing. He developed very strong bonds with his nurses who took such good and loving care of him. He liked “chillin out” at home with his parents and nurses, just watching cartoons and playing on his iPad.

Kash attended West Haven Elementary, Sandridge Junior High, and graduated from Roy High School, class of 2025. He was on the high honor roll many times and worked hard at school despite his hatred for getting up early each day. He was a member of the Hope Squad, and Drama at both Sandridge Junior High and Roy Highschool. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He knew how much he was loved by his Heavenly Father.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles Leth Maughan and Shirley Mae Sykes, and Sherry Madsen, nephew: Charlie Eric Maughan, cousin: Bailey Woodward.

He is survived by his parents; Eric and Debbie Maughan, brothers: Ryan Maughan, Kelby(Erika) Maughan, sister; Emily Sweeten. nephew: Sawyer Maughan, nieces: Finley Maughan, Brecklynn Maughan, and Huntlee Maughan.

The family would like to sincerely thank Kash’s nurses at Ivy Lane/Amazing Care Pediatrics. They loved and cared for him with all their hearts and were vital in his growth. They are forever a part of our family. We love them all dearly. We also want to thank the IHC Hospice team for the daily calls, visits, and compassion shown this last month. Also thanks to IHC Home Healthcare, school teachers, and all the doctors and specialists at Primary Children’s Medical Center over these past 17 years for the love and support. We have been very blessed to have you a part of Kash’s life and ours.
