Katherine A. Rich

KAYSVILLE – Katherine Avalene Russell Rich, 80, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 in Layton, Utah.

She was born April 6, 1933 in Eureka, Utah the daughter of Curtis Rolfe and Martha Clara Olsen Russell.

Katherine married Vernon Lee Rich on February 2, 1952 in Las Vegas, NV.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in 1961.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and taught Young Women’s and was Relief Society Secretary.  She was also a member of the Daughter of Utah Pioneers and the Carbonette Club.

Katherine enjoyed oil painting, sewing and gardening.

Surviving are her husband Vernon, children, Karen (Roger) Terry, Ralph (Sandy) Rich, Judy (Ron) Adams, Deanna (Randy) Fitz, 13 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and sister, Barbara Solt.

Preceded in death by a sister Dorlene Gumbrecht.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Wellington City Cemetery, Wellington, Utah.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
