Katheryn Petersen SYRACUSE - Katheryn Petersen, 87, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013 at her home. Born October 30, 1925 in Syracuse, Utah to Joseph P. and Charlotte L. Stoker Bodily the sixth of seven children. Attended Syracuse School, Clearfield Jr. High and graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville in 1943. Married Harvey Petersen July 16, 1946 in the Logan LDS Temple. Preceded in death May 2000. Parents of three children, Sherman H. (Marilou), D. Ross (Ginger), Christiann (Derek) Collier and grandparents of eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother Jim (Melba) Bodily, Declo, Idaho. Served as Sunday School Teacher, Beehive and MIA Maid Teacher, Guide Patrol Leader, Ward Drama Director in MIA, 2nd Counselor to the Primary Presidency, Jr. Sunday School Secretary, Genealogy Committee, Social Relations Teacher in Relief Society, Second Session Homemaking Leader, Sunday School In-Service Instructor and parts in ward plays. Completed a 32 year working career, retiring November 1980. Served 10 years at the Naval Supply Depot in the Accounting and Disbursing Dept. and 22 years for Internal Revenue Service in Ogden as a tax examiner and retiring as Supervisor of the Document Services Unit. Hobbies are cooking, camping, making quilts and stuffed animals and various other handicraft items. She loved to tat which is somewhat of a lost art and loved to read and dabble at drawing, have done a few charcoal and pen and ink drawings, written poems and children’s stories. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Jensen Park Ward, 3024 So. 1200 W., Syracuse. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
