Kathleen Stephens Palmer
March 4, 1940 – August 24, 2017
Kathleen Stephens Palmer, surrounded by her family, completed her earthly mission returning home to her Father in Heaven and her sweetheart Ned on August 24, 2017. Kathleen was born on March 4, 1940 and adopted by Miland and Edna Stephens, she was also raised by her Aunt Emma and Uncle Aldo Stephens. Kathleen was married to her sweetheart Ned Palmer in the Logan temple on December 9, 1965.
Kathleen had a positive influence on everyone she came in contact with, from kind conversations with complete strangers, to her never-ending service to those she loved. Her biggest concern in life was that everyone around her was happy. She would go out of her way to ensure that we all had everything we needed or wanted.
Kathleen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She happily served in many callings from the Primary to the Relief Society. She poured her whole heart into each of her callings. She served a two year mission to Japan which provided her with experiences and a testimony that she never stopped sharing. Kathleen always went the extra mile in each of her callings be it a Sunday School lesson, a Primary activity, or compassionate service. She taught us, since we were young, to live our lives and fulfill our callings in a manner that would be pleasing to our Savior. Her dedication, service, and constant sacrifice where the perfect example of Christ-like love.
Kathleen received an Associate’s degree from Stevens-Henagar College. She provided over 40 years of civil service at Hill Air Force Base. Kathleen began her journey at Hill as a secretary and ended her career as a Systems Analyst working alongside many who had advanced degrees. Those who had the opportunity to associate with her in a professional capacity also received her love and service. We have many good memories of her colleagues from near and far that she invited into our home.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Ned, daughter Emma, grandson Boston, her parents Miland and Edna Stephens, her aunt and uncle Aldo and Emma Stephens, her brothers A. Don, Brent, and Kay Stephens, and her sister Eloise Funk. Kathleen is survived by her sons Mark Palmer (Maria da Silva), Gary (Dana) Palmer, and Miland (Linda) Palmer, her grandchildren Arthur, Chloe, Ethan, Dallin, Emma, and Amelia, and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Mike Stephens, sister Sharon Thompson and her sisters-in-law Marcia (Brent) Stephens and Jeniel (Don) Stephens and many nieces and nephews.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the BeeHive House of Syracuse and Brighton Home Health and Hospice. The kind and gentle care that she received was a true blessing. A special thanks to Alice Bosworth, a true angel, who helped us all through this difficult journey.
