LAYTON – Kathleen Ruddell, 67, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2008 in Layton. She was born December 30, 1940 to Bennett and Ella Katherine Leichty Cottam, in Providence, Utah. Kathleen was raised in Providence and Brigham City; she also lived in Fresno, CA, Woodbridge, VA and Bensalem, PA before returning to Utah.
Kathleen married Lewis J. Ruddell, May 8, 1959 in the Logan Temple. She served in ward and stake young women’s presidencies, Stake Relief Society Board, and was a Relief Society Teacher. Kathleen was a member of the International Old Lacers, she enjoyed needle lace, tatting, cross-stitch, hardangar, and embroidery. Kathleen also enjoyed sketching, painting and candy making.
Survived by her mother, Ella L. Cottam, daughters, Lori Kammans, Clearfield; Lisa Heine, Centennial, CO; Ruth Bakken, Layton; son, Greg Ruddell, Layton; five grandsons, Steven, Noble, Syver, Matthew and Ethan; siblings Allen Cottam, DeVon Cottam, Elizabeth Peterson, Leila O’Dell and Scott Cottam.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis J. Ruddell. Our beautiful, caring mother will be missed but she can now join Lewis with full health and vigor serving the mission they always wanted to.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Oakhills LDS Ward Chapel, 1410 East Gentile, in Layton. Friends and family may call Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Chapel.
