Cherished, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, slipped away peacefully, February 21, 2024 at her home in Salt Lake City.
Born February 12, 1939 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota and raised by loving parents in Spearfish, South Dakota.
Shortly after high school, Kathy joined the Navy serving as a yeoman. After being honorably, discharged from her second tour in the Navy. Kathy began her civil service with the Army as the first female game warden at Hawthorne Army Ammunition Plant in Nevada.
In 1980, Kathy moved to Layton Utah, continuing her civil service on Hill Air Force Base.
Kathy met Keith Berntsen, along with daughter Karen and they became a family. After the loss of Keith. Kathy and Karen were a mother/daughter pair.
Kathy was blessed to marry the love of her life and eternal companion, Norm Setters on December 10, 2007 and added 5 more children to her family
At the time of her passing, Kathy was mom to 5, grandma to 16, great grandma to 17.
Kathy was proceeded in death by her mother and father, her younger sister, Carol, younger brother, Donald, and one son Carl.
As all who knew Kathy, she was very busy with such organizations as Order of the Eastern Star (64 yrs), the DOES (48 yrs), Ladies of the Elk (43 yrs), as well as the Elks (24 yrs), and the Ladies of Shrine (11 yrs), Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was an avid bowler, loved bingo, and crafting for any and all the holidays.
Funeral services will be held Friday March 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family Friday March 1 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.
Interment will be held Friday March 8, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Rd., Bluffdale, Utah.
