Kathleen (Kitty) Purcell

Kathleen (Kitty) Carol Jarvis Purcell, 56, graduated from her Earthly life on July 21, 2016. Kitty was born on March 8, 1960 in Mesa, AZ to Rex Albert Jarvis and Louise Bertha Gering. She was a kind and compassionate child who loved music and her family. She loved to sing in choir and enjoyed attending Seminary at Mesa High School.

She met her eternal companion while he was serving an LDS mission in Mesa, AZ. After his service, Scott Hunter Purcell married Kitty for time and all eternity in the Mesa Temple on May 26, 1978. Kitty lived for her husband and her five children. She taught her children to love each other and to love the gospel. She loved her neighbors and became close friends with many of them. She served diligently in her church responsibilities and loved to be involved in her "Little Layton" community, attending countless concerts, plays, and events. She was physically active and was always on the move riding her bicycle, hiking, and taking walks with friends and family. She adored all little children, and spent as much time as possible loving, doting on, and playing outside with her seven grandchildren.

Above all else, Kitty loved caring for others. Everybody thought they were her best friend because of how she made them feel. She made sure that everyone's birthday was a holiday for them, and if you knew her, you were her family. She cared for others to the end, insisting that she be an organ donor so that she could continue to help others even after her passing.

She is survived by her Eternal Sweetheart Scott; her mother Louise Bertha Gering  Barnhart; her siblings: Richard (Lea) Jarvis, Jeannie (Glen) Welton, Joanne (Tom) Asburry, Sandy Louise Barnhart and her sister-in-law Diane Purcell;   her five children and their spouses:  Kevin (Dawnie), Karen (Brian) Kellersberger, Joannie (Brady) Kelley, Tony (Abby), and Ramon; and her seven grandchildren: Lincoln, Ryan, Katelyn, Hadley, Jake, Jenica, and Spencer.

She is preceded in death by her father Rex Albert Jarvis, her step-father Ray Dean Barnhart, and her in-laws who considered her their daughter, Albert and Mary Purcell.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the North Park Ward, 202 W. 1675 N. Layton.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
