Kathryn Augusta Finch Brown
In the early morning hours of July 2, 2014, Kathryn Augusta Finch Brown left her children to fly to the waiting arms of her loving husband, parents, siblings and so many friends.
As a child of pioneer ancestors and part of a hard working farming family she fought to stay but it was time for a well-deserved rest.
Youngest child of James D. Finch and Augusta Hansen Finch. Born October 22, 1922 in Spanish Fork, Utah.
Preceded in death by baby sister Annie, James (Lorraine), Jane (Skylar) Strang, Henry (Leah), Ray (Leon), George (Ann). Survived by their children, Susan (Dennis) Weaver, Dave, Jim and Amy; grandchildren Chris and Shelly (Dave) Eldredge; great-grandchildren Jessica, Emily and Jacqueline.
Mom loved the dramatic arts and was a thespian at BYU where she met her true love Joseph Featherstone Brown at a music symposium. They were soon engaged at the Salem Pond. Dad enlisted in the Army Air force and soon sent for her. They were married in San Antonio, Texas on July 8, 1944, and then sealed in the Salt Lake Temple February 13, 1945. Dad passed away at 53 and she handled life with strength and aplomb. Mom was a defender of the underdog and an unsolicited helper of those in need, lessons learned well by her children.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Bountiful 14th Ward Chapel, 1500 S. 600 E. where friends may visit family from 9:30- 10:30 am prior to services. Interment Bountiful Cemetery under the direction of Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake
