Kathryn V. Child WASHINGTON TERRACE – Kathryn Vandenberg Child died peacefully at her home in Washington Terrace on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. She was born January 13, 1928 to Andrew and Helen Crowley Vandenberg in Ogden. A lifelong Utah resident, Kathryn attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School in 1946. During World War II she worked at Hill Air Force Base, the Union Pacific Railroad and volunteered at the USO. Her last job was at Utah Tailoring Mills where she worked for many years. On February 27, 1947 Kathryn married Lloyd B. Child. He died November 26, 1989. During their 42 years of marriage they camped, fished, traveled and found their greatest enjoyment in their children and grandchildren. Both were members of the First Presbyterian Church. Kathryn will always be remembered for her quick wit, kind heart, Christmas spirit and her willingness to do almost anything. She was a loving friend, devoted mother and grandmother and will be especially missed by her great-grandchildren, Jake and Kaycie Payne and Logan Child. Surviving are her children: Vickie (Ronald) McCall, Raymond (Pamela) Child, Robert (MaryJane) Child and Kristine (Steven) Tice; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Payne, Ronald J. McCall, Raymond Lloyd Jr. (Tiffany) Child, Victor Buck (Mara) Child, Dina (Aaron) Dahl and LaTasha Parker. A special thanks to her friend Maurice. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, brothers: Leon and Robert Vandenberg, and a sister, Leona Vandenberg Crosson. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Ogden, 880 – 28th Street with the Reverend Dr. Richard P. Minnich officiating. Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
