Kathryn Pitcher

Kathryn Schmidt Pitcher passed away on November 6, 2013 after a 20 year battle with cancer. She was born in Ogden, Utah, on September 21, 1959, the daughter of Herbert and Irene Schmidt. Kathryn attended Ogden High School and studied at Weber State College and University of Hawaii. She completed her degree in special education at Utah State University graduating magna cum laude.

Kathryn married Paul Merrill Pitcher in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple on April 8, 1982. They are the parents of three children. Kathryn taught special education for several years before dedicating herself to her favorite job of fulltime mother and homemaker.

She loved the gospel and served in several callings as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her favorite calling was that of primary chorister.

Kathryn served on the PTA for many years and volunteered extensively at T.O. Smith Elementary. Her greatest joy was that of being a mother and a homemaker. Kathryn also loved to swim. She loved sewing and quilting, working in the yard and traveling. Kathryn was an avid reader and kept a constant stack of books at the side of her bed. She loved her children and she was a devoted mother and grandmother who found the greatest happiness in being with her family. Kathryn was an individual with great kindness and compassion.

Kathryn is survived by her husband of 31 years, Paul; her daughters, Stephanie Pitcher (Camilo), and Anna Christiansen (Chase); her son, Michael Pitcher; her siblings, Pam Ray (Bob), Greg Schmidt *PU* (Linda), and Janet Snyder; and by her two granddaughters, Isabelle and Charlotte, and many nieces and nephews that brought great joy to her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert W. and Irene Leak Schmidt; and her oldest brother, Kay Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
