Kathryn Berglund Skinner passed away peacefully on October 10, 2015 surrounded by family. She was born July 15, 1946 in Ogden, Utah to Milton and Anne Crawford Berglund.

She attended Davis High School and graduated from Roseville High School in Roseville, California. She attended Weber State College and graduated from Brigham Young University with a teaching degree in French and Business. She later graduated from Webster University with her Master’s Degree in Counseling.

She married the love of her life Steven Edward Skinner on May 7, 1971. They were blessed with two children, David Steven Skinner and Dianne Skinner Maples.

She started her teaching career at Davis High School from 1970 – 1988. She taught French and English classes. She gained lifelong friendships with teachers, students, and administrators. As a part-time job during the summer months she would lead tours in Europe, teaching students about history and culture.

In 1992 she began her counseling career at Northridge High School. After numerous years as a counselor she realized how badly she missed teaching students in the classroom. She returned to the classroom and taught for several more years until 2007.

In 2007 she returned to counseling to the newly built Syracuse High School. She retired in 2010 with almost 40 years as an educator. She truly loved working with teenagers.

She loved to travel and meet new people. She got her love of traveling after moving to numerous states and countries as a child with her family while her father Chief Master Sergeant Milton Berglund, was serving in the United States Air Force. She traveled and lived in Utah, California, Arizona, Washington, Japan, and England as a “Military Brat.”

After her retirement she continued to travel, experiencing new places and new cultures. She also spent valuable time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
