1941 ~ 2017

Kathy Weir, 76, passed away on March 11, 2017 from the effects of influenza and acute respiratory distress.  She was born on January 17, 1941 in Cornish, Cache County, Utah. Her parents are Francis Weston Bench, Jr. and Iris Baker Bench.  She grew up in South Ogden and graduated from Weber High School in 1959 and Weber State College.  She worked for over 50 years as a registered nurse in surgery, labor and delivery, and a skilled nursing facility.  She ate a special diet for 45 years due to Celiac Disease.

Kathy married James Kent Weir in the Logan Utah LDS Temple on March 22, 1963.  They were 11 days from their 54th wedding anniversary.  Kathy and Kent have five children, Bradley (Julie), Douglas, Gregory (Carla), Michael (Julie), and Katie Connelly.  They have 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  Grandson Jacob is away on a two years church mission in California.

Kathy has a brother, Gerald (Margaret) Bench. Kent has a sister, Barbara Weir, and a brother, Karl (Ramona) Weir.  Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and Kent’s parents, James T. Weir Jr. and Vera Lucile Thurgood Weir.

Kathy enjoyed family, temple attendance, holidays and many decorations, Christmas movies, Mormon Tabernacle Choir music, knitting, crocheting, Nutcracker Ballet, campfires and camping, and visiting cities.

At Kathy’s request there will be no funeral.  Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the east area of Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 East 2850 North, North Ogden.  Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.
