Katie Lynn Andre passed away quietly in her sleep Thursday morning, January 13, 2011 in her home. She will be greatly missed. Katie was born on March 15, 1982 as the youngest of six children.
Katie was born with Rett Syndrome. Over the 28 years of her life Rett took away her ability to talk, to walk, to eat, and finely to breathe. In these 28 years she was able to touch the hearts of all who spent any time with her. Katie loved to be with her brothers and sisters, and enjoyed watching them sing, dance, and talk with her. Katie enjoyed her church activities and many happy hours with her young women sisters. Even though she was unable to speak, she showed her love and joy with her bright smile and the twinkle in her eyes.
These past years Katie had special friends who helped to care for her. Charlene Beck, Christine Burgener, Amy Rupert, and Natalie Osborne were some of the special friends who brought great happiness into Katie''s life. Katie loved to be around her nieces, nephews and all babies. She was contented to watch TV or listen to music with her parents after a busy day. Katie had a perfect testimony of her brother Jesus Christ and God the Father. She loved them dearly and we are certain she is in their loving arms.
Our Katie Katie, you are a special person, Who graced us with your love. An angel living on the earth, You left your home above. With only smiles as your voice Your joy was heard a loud. Your eyes shared the light of Christ with all, And made Heavenly Father proud, Enduring mortality''s misfortunes, With patience, trust and grace. Your strong example beaming, From your tender, loving face. Though tears precede your passing, From all who loved you, Kate, The angels all were smiling, When you opened Heaven''s Gate. (By Christine Burgener)
Katie''s family asks that you rejoice with them in the fact that Katie has been released from her imperfect mortal body and is enjoying the blessings of the Atonement.
Katie is survived by her parents Karen and Todd Andre, sisters Kamie Roberts and Karie Andre; brothers Robert, David and Kurtis Andre; and grandmother, Jean Andre. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Carl and Lucile Stock and grandfather, Robert Andre.
A celebration of Katie''s life will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Syracuse 7th Ward, 1625 S. 1100 W. Friends and family may visit Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
