Katsuyoshi Yanagitani

August 9, 1923 ~ March 2, 2016

Husband to Yaeko and father to Elizabeth and Brian Yanagitani, Katsuyoshi Yanagitani passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016.  He worked very hard like many Nissei or 2nd generation Japanese Americans, while growing up in the depression.

Katsuyoshi retired from HAFB after many years of civil service.

Katsuyoshi always taught what was good versus bad.  He enjoyed pets, especially litters of kittens.  While dad was asleep on the bed the kittens would sleep around his neck and dad would sweat because of the warmth from the kittens.  We will always treasure our good memories.

Katsuyoshi was preceded in death by his wife, Yaeko and daughter, Elizabeth Yanagitani; brother, Nobo and sister, Mary.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.  Cremation will follow.  A burial at the Rosehill Mortuary in Whittier, California will be held at a later date.
