Kay Barlow

Kay Roberts Barlow 85, of Roy, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Mt. Ogden Assisted Living under hospice care.

She was born October 3, 1936 in Layton, Utah to Kenneth and Sarah Simmons Roberts. She was the oldest of three daughters. The family moved to Syracuse, where she learned the farming life.

She graduated from Davis High School in 1957 and then worked at Bell Telephone where she supported her family while her dad battled cancer.

On June 12, 1957, Kay married Ray Alexander Barlow (deceased) in the SLC Temple. They lived in Clearfield until 1961 when they bought a home in Roy and stayed until 2019. They reared five children and had 17 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

Mom was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and recently served as family history consultant and chorister. She loved genealogy and singing as well as gardening, woodworking, sewing and painting.

She worked 27 years at Defense Depot Ogden, and 15+ years at Sears. She will be remembered for her work ethic and handmade gifts and greenhouse plants.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Sheryl Kay Sase (Gary); and sister, Alice Roberts. She is survived by a sister, Colleen Ford (Jerry), Coeur d'Alene, ID; Bethann Thompson, (Brandt), Fielding, UT; Raedene Harker (Marv), Shelley, ID; Keith Roberts Barlow (Vicki), West Haven; and Kenneth Layton Barlow (Emily), Roy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Roy 9th Ward, 4250 South 2175 West, with Bishop Padovich, officiating. The family will meet with friends Wednesday, December 1st from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
