In loving memory of Colleen (Kay) Mumford, a beloved and cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who departed from our lives on Monday, January 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Kay’s vibrant spirit touched the hearts of many, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.
Born to Elozia and Hugh Bradley on September 16, 1937, in San Francisco. Kay spent her childhood in Farmington, Utah. She spent the rest of her life in Roy, Utah. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bob Mumford, her beloved children, Lana Adams, R. Buck (Liz) Cowdin, Michelle (Mark) Nelson, Bobbi (Dave) Woodmansee, Jeff Mumford, Bret (Tonya) Mumford, and Heidi Osaka; 23 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Also survived by her loving siblings, Afton (Lowell) Stevens, Norma (Steve) Smith, Karen (Jim) Garner, Penny (Nick) Rose. Kay is preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Elozia Bradley, two sons, Jerry Cowdin and Craig Mumford, her granddaughter, Erica Spencer, great grandson, Grizzly G. Adamson, her sister, Hulene Strong, and three brothers, Ben, Ted, and Gary Bradley.
Kay met and married the love of her life, Robert T. Mumford, on May 21, 1961. They had six beautiful children together. They were sealed for all time and eternity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ogden Temple on January 13, 2009.
Kay’s happiness found its truest expression in the embrace of family and the joy of serving others. A beacon of loyalty, her love for her entire family was undeniable, defending fiercely the ones she loved and the convictions she held dear.
One of the many facets of Kay’s remarkable character was her nurturing spirit, especially evident in her devoted care for her children and all her grandchildren. Kay loved crafting. She would make blankets, pillowcases, handmade cards, and scrapbooks for all her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed gardening and had quite a green thumb. Her garden and flowers flourished year after year due to her care and love. Her fondest memoirs were going to Yellowstone with Bob. They would try to go at least once a year. Her happiest times were being surrounded by all her family. She always had a grandbaby on her lap.
We hope she always knew the depth of the love she inspired and the void her absence leaves.
