Mary Kathleen “Kay” Thomas Papageorge passed away at the age of 82 on Monday, September 19, 2016.  She was born on September 4, 1934 to John I. and Mildred H.  Thomas in Ogden, Utah.  She graduated from Ogden High School.  Kay married Jimmie Papageorge on December 28, 1957.  She was always there to help Jimmie in everything he did, it didn’t matter if it was the farm, city, irrigation, church or anything else he took on.  She was more than willing to do whatever needed to be done.   Jimmie passed away on October 21, 2012.

Kay was a member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church.  She taught Sunday School and was a Philoptochos member and officer.  She was secretary of Western Irrigation Company, secretary for Farr West Sewer Improvement District, and also secretary for Pappy’s Farm.  She was also a 4-H leader for 25 years.

She loved cooking, crafting, crossword puzzles, reading, but most of all loved going to the Farr West Senior Center on Monday for lunch and bingo!!!

Her pride and joy were her grandkids, Nicole and Robbie.

She will be remembered for all the crocheted and knitted afghans and other handiwork that she made and loved giving to family and friends.

Kay is survived by her children, Alex (Lori) Papageorge and Christina (Bob) Spronk; two grandchildren, Nicole Spronk and Robbie Spronk; two step-grandsons, Cody Freston and Joel (Martha) Freston; a great-granddaughter to be born any day; sister, Laurie Golding, Austin, TX.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Margaret Patience.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Transfiguration, 674 42nd St.  Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
