KAYSVILLE – Kaye B. Mifflin, 71, passed away at McKay Dee Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Ogden, Utah to Alden and Nora Burton. Kaye grew up in Fruit Heights, UT and graduated from Davis High School. She proceeded to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree at Weber State University on a full-ride scholarship for playing the violin, which she loved.
Kaye became a teacher and taught in the Davis School District for over 35 years, retiring as a Music Teacher, which she enjoyed. During this time, she had the opportunity to work with multitudes of children and enjoyed watching them grow and learn through their education.
Kaye served in various organizations in the LDS Church. She mostly enjoyed working with scouting as she was able to work with her boys and see them through obtaining their Eagle Scout Awards. She was later awarded the Silver Beaver award for her years of diligence in the scouting program. She enjoyed her time as a worker in the Bountiful Temple with her husband.
Mom enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking, going for long rides to see the leaves change, attending plays at Hale Theater, participating in various orchestras, playing games with her family, and baking cookies and candies during the Holidays.
Her life was one of service to others. She always ensured the needs of those she loved were met and spent many hours doing Community Service with the Scouting Program, and service to others in her neighborhood and community. She was an example to all who came in contact with her through her love and compassionate service.
Kaye was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings in-law Raymond Davis, Morgan and Judy Mifflin. She is survived by her husband, Max, daughter Mary (Tom) Dow of West Point and her three sons; Mike (Lori) Mifflin of Layton, Bobby (Melissa) Mifflin of Kaysville, Andy Mifflin of West Point and nine grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin brother Jay(Marsha) Burton of Fruit Heights, and sister Sharlene Smith of Layton, brother-in-law Bart (Barbara) Mifflin of Ogden, and sister-in-law Jean Davis of Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Utah Stake Center, 615 No. Flint Street, Kaysville. Friends may visit with family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden, Utah.
