Kaye Olsen Thurgood
Kaye Olsen Thurgood, 67, of Syracuse, Utah, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 9, 2009, surrounded by loved ones in her home after a courageous battle with Alzheimers.
Kaye was born in Bountiful, Utah on September 28, 1942 to Kimball and Wanda Olsen. She had two sisters Raye (Ralph) Wood and Gayle (Jerry) Smith and one half-sister Elaine. Kaye was the youngest and always daddy''s favorite.
She was married and sealed to the love of her life, Ronald Dale Thurgood on September 1, 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they have six children: Monty (Lynette), Barbara (Brian) Adams, Kimball (Shawnie), Susan (Chris) Stoker, Roger (Shawnell), and Lisa (Trenton) Jones. She also has 28 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Kaye was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She loved sports, art, crocheting, sewing, and animals. She coached softball and was her children''s #1 fan in whatever they did. She served family and friends and was always an example to those around her. Diet Dr. Pepper made everything better. Her dog, Bubbles, was always her best friend. She hated being told what to do and wasn''t afraid to say no. She loved her Father in Heaven and prayed for her family daily. She took her grandchildren out to movies and to get ice cream. She taught her family to love sports, animals and to be artistic.
She loved her husband and gave him a kiss before he left for work and when he got home every day. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother in every sense of the word.
Kaye is survived by her husband, sisters, children and grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, including Ed Ritter, sister Elaine and granddaughter Jessica.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 13, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
We would like to give special thanks for the Angels in Kaye''s life, including the Hospice volunteers, family and friends. Families are Forever.
