Keith C. Cox
OGDEN - Our loving husband, father and grandfather, Keith C. Cox , passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at home surrounded by his family.
Keith was born August 6, 1923 in Payson, Utah the youngest child of Louis and Louise Cox.
On November 25, 1942 he married Dorothy May Hurst in Salt Lake City, Utah. They later solemnized their vows in the Logan LDS Temple on February 15, 1964. Keith and Dorothy celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2007.
Keith grew up in the Payson area graduating from Payson High School in 1941 and later attended Weber College.
After moving to Ogden he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad retiring in 1983, after 42 years of service. For many years to supplement the family income, Keith worked as a carpenter in the Ogden area crafting beautiful cabinets and woodwork. He was a true craftsman who delighted his family in making clocks, rocking horses, cutting boards, beds, and many beautiful gifts for family and friends. There was never a fix-it-project Keith did not have the ability to repair.
Keith was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Pleasant Valley 5th Ward where he held various positions. Along with his wife they worked in the Ogden Temple.
He had a great love for people. There was never a stranger that didn’t soon become his friend. He was the ultimate father and grandfather who delighted in sharing every accomplishment of his family. He faithfully attended every life event cheering them on from the sideline. We will miss his hugs and smiles which encouraged his family to do their very best. He was an avid Jazz fan who called his sons after every game to critique the team’s performance. After he retired he found pleasure in driving cars for many of the local dealerships. He and Dorothy enjoyed the years they traveled with the Good Sam Club in their motor home.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, sons Darrell (DeeAnne) Cox of Layton, Bruce (Sheryl) Cox and Brent (Vicki) Cox, both of Ogden. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Ron, two sisters and three brothers.
The family wishes to thank Dr. John Wood and the IHC Hospice nursing staff for their loving care of our father.
