Keith Kenley

 Keith Chambers Kenley

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 of complications from surgery after a long and valiant battle with various cancers. We would like to take this time to thank the Taylor Second Ward, and the dedicated doctors and nurses at the University of Utah Hospital, as well as his homecare nurse Mandi, who cared for him, comforted him and treated him with dignity and respect.

Keith was born April 20, 1940 in Ogden, Utah, to Wilmer and Mae Kenley and was the second born child of four siblings. He spent his childhood in Eden, Utah. As a young man, Keith owned his own excavation business and grew it into a very successful operation. He was highly respected in his trade on a personal as well as professional level. His passion and pride for his work came second only to his love for his family.

In his free time he enjoyed taking his family camping, hunting, and spending time outdoors. His favorite pastimes included rock hunting and taking his grandchildren for rides on the four-wheeler. He had a passion for his family, friends and black and white John Wayne films. Following his retirement, he enjoyed traveling to distant family, driving through the Wasatch Mountains admiring their beauty and munching on his favorite candy, chocolate covered cinnamon bears.

Keith lived most of his life in Ogden, and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many callings. He had a love of life, and his compassion and patience towards others was an example to all those who knew him. His kind smile and gentle eyes were a constant source of reassurance even in the most difficult of times. Even in pain during the last month, his first thought was always to his family and how he could make their life better. It is these great qualities, and many more, that we will miss the most.

Keith is survived by Donna, his loving wife of 53 years, and his five children: Brent Marchant Kenley, Janice K. (David) Harris, Keith Scott (Amy) Kenley, Albert Steven Kenley, and Kimberley Kenley. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a brother, Wilmer E. Kenley, Jr., and a sister, Tanya Kenley Robinson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the mortuary.

Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park 836-36th Street, Ogden Utah.
