Keith Smith

Our father, grandfather, brother and friend, Keith B. Smith, passed from this life on December 5, 2013 at age 59.

Keith was born on July 14, 1954 to Lowell and Norma Smith in Preston, Idaho where he spent his preschool years. The family moved to Ogden where he attended Ogden High School. He later graduated from Utah State University where he earned an MBA degree. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee with his wife Ruthie where he was the Finance Controller for the Firestone/Bridgestone Corporate Office and where he learned to love all things rural and country. He moved back home to the Ogden area and built a home in Huntsville where he had innumerable friends and spent many years working in real estate development.

Keith was an amazing outdoorsman who loved to hike, hunt, ski and travel. He could work harder than a lumberjack, longer than a surgeon, and more skillfully than an artist. He loved to build and perfect those things that came to him in dreams a" day or night. He loved big projects and most times he tried to complete them all by himself. He had a great eye for all things elegant and collected animals, furniture, art, trinkets and interesting people.

He found his true calling as a grandpa and loved to spend time with Cameron and Sawyer, sharing time and space with them at his mountain home and in the great outdoors. He had so many varied experiences that he was never at a loss for a story or an adventure to share. Everyone that knew Keith also knew of his deep love for nature and his family.

Keith is survived by his sons, Jeremy (Britteny) Smith of Logan and Michael (Holly) Smith of Salt Lake City; grandsons, Cameron and Sawyer; a sister, Cheryl (Lonnie) Smith of Saratoga, California; and brothers, Deane (Ella), Laurence (Julie), David (Nancy), Brian (Shelley), and Scott (Kelly) all living in the Weber/Davis area.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Maryam and both of his parents.

A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

The family would like to thank the hospital staff of Ogden Regional Medical Center and those of the Lindquist Mortuary for their help in caring for Keith and assisting the family at this trying time.
