Keith T. Stephens HICKORY, North Carolina - Keith Thomas Stephens, 86, died Friday, January 8, 2010 at Kingston Residence, Hickory, NC. He was born May 12, 1923 in Ogden, Utah to the late George Thomas and Mary Alice Pingree Stephens. Keith was a faithful member and former Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in Argentina for three years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. During his professional career he was a Wall Street banker, Professor at Seton Hall University and a Department Head at Western Carolina University. He is survived by his son, Gregory Keith and Mary Ann Stephens of Fort Worth, TX; two daughters, Rebecca Alice Stephens and Dave Melonakos of Newton, NC; Karen Lisa Stephens and Wayne Taylor of Phoenix, AZ; 15 grandchildren, John Melonakos, Steven Melonakos, Eric Melonakos, Laura Melonakos, Cory Taylor, Aaron Taylor, Jeremy Taylor, Travis Taylor, Trina Taylor, Caroline Taylor, Andrew Stephens, Rachel Sorenson, Sara Morrill, Jessica Stephens, Jason Stephens, and foster grandson, Bill Mallett; and four great-grandchildren, David, Amy, Katherine Melonakos, and Tycho Morrill. His wife of 53 years, Alice Maxine Berg Stephens and son, Jonathon Thomas Stephens, preceded him in death. Funeral service will be Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; 4065 North Center Street, Hickory, with Bishop Paul Baird officiating and President Mick Berry presiding. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 3 p.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery in Ogden, Utah. The family will meet friends at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. on Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to The Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6089 Northlake Drive, Hickory, NC 28601.
