OGDEN a" Kenneth William Barrow, 89, left this earth on Thursday, March 17, 2011 in the arms of his loving wife surrounded by his family.
He was born December 16, 1921 in Reese (West Warren), Utah to Thomas W. and Ida White Barrow. He was the seventh of twelve children.
He married Shirley Wayment on December 23, 1943 in Glendale, California. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 23, 1943. Their union was blessed with five loving children, 64 grandchildren, and 54 great-grandchildren.
Ken attended Weber County Schools and graduated from Weber High School in 1940. Ken felt honored to be a part of the Greatest Generation as he served his country in World War ll. He served in the United States Air Force as an Aerial Engineer. Upon returning from the war, Ken was employed by Cream O'' Weber Dairy. He was appointed Secretary-Treasurer of International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union Local #976 in 1961. He served the members of the Union well until his retirement in 1984.
He was active in community affairs serving as a P.T.A. President, Weber County Planning Commissioner, active in the Weber County Democratic Party, as well as other civic duties.
Ken loved The Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully his entire life. He served as a Bishop''s Counselor, Bishop of the West Warren Ward for 13 years, and 11 years as High Counselor in the Weber North Stake. In 1985-1986, Ken and Shirley served in the Florida Tallahassee Mission serving Cambodian refugees.
Ken loved hunting and camping with his family and friends. He loved horses and cattle and golfing and spent many happy winters in St. George and made dear friends there.
Ken is survived by his wife Shirley, his three sons and two daughters, Gary Lynn, (Marylee) Ogden; Boyd W. (Judy) Reese; Glenn W. (Betty) Hooper; Pamela (Steve) Richards, Perry; Denise (Brent) Rogers, West Warren; brother, Floyd (Marvel) Barrow; sisters-in-law, Susan Barrow, and Ruth Wayment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 22 at 11 a.m. at the West Warren Ward Chapel, 856 North 5900 West, in Warren.
Family will meet with friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Monday, March 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the West Warren Ward from 9:45 to 10:45 p.m.
Interment, West Warren Cemetery.
