Kenneth Cook returned to his Heavenly Father and the loving arms of his wife, Verna, on March 8, 2013. He was born in Syracuse, Utah on July 22, 1928.
He married Verna Lee Behunin on November 19, 1966 and they were later sealed on October 27, 1973. He was active in the LDS church. He served in the army during the Korean War. He retired from DDO (Defense Depot Ogden) in 1989.
He and his wife Verna loved to bowl and travel. They spent many winters together in Quartzsite, Arizona. Ken was gentle, kind and always serving others. He had an infectious smile that would light up a room. He spent many years taking care of his sweetheart without ever a word of complaint. He raised her children as his own and they loved him as much as he loved them. Although he didn''t see them as often as he would have liked, he loved his children from his first marriage with all of his heart and talked about them often.
Ken is survived by his children, Bryon Cook of San Diego, CA; Mike (Melanie) Cook of Oakland, CA; Ted (Rita) Pratt of Fremont, NE; John (Stephanie) Barker of Ogden, UT; Jerry (Diana) Barker of Ogden, UT; Misty (Steve) Nelson of Great Falls, MT; Myra (Jay) Lehman of Polson, MT; Terrie (Don) Schmitt of West Valley, UT; and Cindy (Darrell) Dabb of West Haven, UT. He is also survived by four brothers, Karl (Rosalie) Cook, Lynn Cook, Raymond (Barbara) Cook, and Keith Cook; as well as one sister, Sharon Boulter. He is also survived by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his eternal companion, Verna Lee Cook, his parents, Nephi and Frances Cook, four brothers and one sister in early childhood, his brother LeGrande Cook and his sister Darlene Marble. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law Dezella Carroll.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may meet with family on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., South Ogden.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Lotus Park Assisted Living, and Abundant Life Hospice. Thank you for taking such good care of our dad.
