Kenneth Eric Dumas, 74, peacefully departed on September 10, 2022. Ken was born on August 24, 1948, and raised in Los Angeles, CA, where family and faith surrounded him. He was the eldest of four siblings and a shining beam of curiosity and mischief (as his mother would say!).
Along his life’s journey, as fate had it, he met the love of his life, Kiki, in Hermosa Beach, CA. They later married and started their family. They yearned for a slower-paced life to raise their children and relocated to Ogden, UT, where Ken began his career working for Morton Thiokol, later known as Autoliv. He worked his way to a building maintenance coordinator and excelled, gaining merits of achievement throughout his career. He later packaged out, making a career change as a heating and air technician using his skills to work for the Internal Revenue Service, where he later retired.
He shared retirement with his wife, Kiki, of 48 years. Together, they enjoyed traveling in their RV and taking road trips with their family of Poodles. They looked forward to the open road, camping, and most importantly, spending time and making memories with their grandchildren and loved ones.
Ken was well-known in his community and always willing to help a neighbor. People gravitated to his warm and genuine personality. He led by example, and the example was to lead with love.
Ken has left an everlasting impact on those he loved. His energy was pure like his soul. He lived a humble and joyful life in his authentic truth. He was musically inclined with a gifted singing voice reaching the highest notes to perfection! Ken loved a range of diverse music and shared that appreciation (and record collection) with his children. He loved making those around him laugh with his cheeky sense of humor. He was always up-to-date on current affairs and enjoyed sharing knowledge and having conversations about classic cars, art, history and more. One of his greatest joys was watching his family grow and being a grandfather.
God blessed us with the original Ken, a legendary, unique man who marched to the beat of his own drum. If faced with adversity, he overcame barriers with grace. We will forever admire his determination to be the best man he could be.
Ken is survived by his mother, Mae Raines; his beloved wife, Annette (Kiki) Karaly-Dumas; his children, Marshall (Seble) Dumas, Michaela (Darryl) Gross, Jason Johnson, Nicole Dumas, and Monique (Matthew) Rodgers; his grandchildren, Daryen, Shyanne and Shawn Gross, Miles and Marcel Rodgers, and Fiona Dumas; his brothers, Landre and Nathion Dumas; and his brother-in-law, Simeon Karaly.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Norvel Dumas; and his sister, Janis Dumas.
We will continue to shine his light of love! Rest in paradise, our beloved Kenneth Eric Dumas.
A celebration of Ken’s life was held in September.
