Kenneth Blain Edwards, 60, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022 while surrounded by his family. Kenny was born on March 13, 1962 to Blain Delbert and Claudia Checketts Edwards in Ogden, Utah. He grew up in West Point, spending hours camping in the “bottoms”, where he, his brothers and friends spent many nights exploring fields and sloughs. He was an Eagle Scout, and graduated from Clearfield High School.
Kenny married Jann Harris on June 29, 1989; their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden, Utah temple. Kenny loved being a dad. He taught his sons to work, and to play. He shared his lifelong love of hunting, fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren. If Kenny was reeling in a fish, he was also looking for a nearby child who could take over and bring that fish to the bank. He was the type of fisherman who made sure everyone else’s pole was in the water before he worried about his own.
Kenny started working for local West Point farmers as a young teen, and like his dad, he loved to garden. He and Jann spent most of their marriage living in Layton, where he proudly harvested a large and varied crop of fruits and vegetables every year. Once their family was grown, they moved to Uintah, where they lived until Jann passed away in 2020.
Kenny loved coaching and playing sports. He spent many years organizing softball teams, and recently worked for Ogden City’s sports program. He was a natural when it came to teaching. Whether it was softball, hunting or just showing someone how to “drive a stick”, Kenny was an easygoing and patient instructor.
He was a wonderful grandpa, showing love to his grandchildren with simple but meaningful actions, like picking them up from school and getting them a treat from the gas station. Kenny found joy in all aspects of life, and his attitude was contagious to those around him. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Scott (Mandy) Hodson, Corey (Jessy) Hodson, Tyler (Kaisey) Edwards and Casey (Taylor) Edwards; grandchildren, Brock, Mckayla, Nikki, Axton, Carly, Ivie, Kaydence and Brecklyn; mother, Claudia Edwards; siblings, Gary (Peggy) Edwards, David (Glenna) Edwards, Tammy (Jeff) Peterson and Angie (Rob) O’Brien. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jann and father, Blain Edwards.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Ogden Regional Medical Center’s Wound Care and ICU for their exceptional care.
