Kenneth L. Erickson
LAYTON – Kenneth Lawrence Erickson, 62, of Layton, passed away peacefully Friday, February 14, 2014 surrounded by his family.
He was born to Robert Max and Audrey Erickson, April 2, 1951, in Logan, UT and was the oldest of four sons. Ken graduated from Davis High School in 1970 and in the same year he married his sweetheart, Diane Riggs. They were later sealed in the Bountiful LDS Temple for eternity.
Ken was happiest when he was with his family. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, hunting, riding motorcycles and 4 wheelers, and shooting guns. He loved to cut firewood and was known for the massive bonfires he would build and watch for hours. He loved reading, a good meal and his dogs. He left a legacy of honesty and hard work.
Ken worked for Unisys as an Electrical Mechanical Assembler until 1989.
He was a member of the Layton Falcon Ridge Ward where he spent time serving in the Sunday School Presidency.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, John O. Riggs of Clearfield.
He is survived by his wife, Diane and three children: Troy (Jacy) Erickson of Kaysville; Michelle (Kerry) Kinney of Naples; and Robert (Tami) Erickson of Layton; his three brothers, Van (Becky) Erickson of Layton; Jon (Jenny) Erickson of St. George; and Joe Erickson of Kaysville. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and his constant companion, Smokey.
The family would like to thank our many friends, neighbors and ward members who helped care for, love and look out for Ken in his last years of declining health.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
