Kenneth “Ray” Gottfredson
November 3, 1928 ~ April 21, 2014
Our dear Dad passed away on April 21, 2014 from complications of cancer. He was born at his Grandma Packard’s home in Springville, Utah, to Ken and Fay Gottfredson on November 3, 1928.
Ray spent most of his growing up years in Logan, Utah, graduating from Logan High School in 1946. By the fall of that year he had enlisted in the Army and was on his way to Japan. Upon his return he attended Utah State University where he met and married his red-headed sweetheart, Ardell Roylance. After a three year courtship, they were married in the Logan LDS Temple on July 2, 1951. They settled in Ogden and raised four children, Debbi, Brian, Jeff and Pam.
Dad worked in procurement at HAFB and retired after 40 years. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Serving as an ordinance worker at the Ogden Temple, his pastoral care at McKay Dee Hospital, and also as Bishop were the highlights of his church service.
Dad learned to ski as a young boy, a love that continued until he was 84, passing that love of the sport to his children and grandchildren. In his retirement years he enjoyed golfing with his buddies, but the greatest passion was treating others to the Lake Powell experience. Dad was the great “Master” at living life to the fullest. We love you Dad.
Ray is survived by his four children, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
