Kenneth Kevin Koenig, 66, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013. He was born on November 13, 1946 to Kenneth Kermit and Margaret Katherine O''Leary Koenig in St. Louis, Missouri.
The family moved to St. Joseph, Missouri when he was five years old. At the age of 14, Kenneth worked at Meadow Gold Dairy. After he graduated from high school, he attended Kansas State University for 2 A½ years majoring in Dairy Science. He was drafted into the Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1967-1969 in the Army Intelligence Unit. This was during the Tet Offensive.
When Kenneth returned home from the Army, he went to work for Beatrice Foods in Chicago, Illinois. Kenneth worked in the Quality Control Laboratory where he met and fell in love with Ellen Kay Ferg. Kenneth and Ellen were married on August 1, 1979. For 22 years, he worked in various corporate positions and advanced to the Director of Purchasing for Beatrice Foods. During his career, he worked for Quality Chek''d Dairies for seven years, Meadow Gold Dairies for two years, and 13 years for Archer Daniel Midland (ADM) both located in Ogden, Utah, purchasing dry sugar in rail carload quantities.
Kenneth was a member of the Oakridge Country Club for two years and the Ogden Country Club for 14 years. His biggest passions were golfing and his cats. He loved to work in the yard and enjoyed sitting in his "Man Cave" at home.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Ellen, and his siblings Karen Koenig, Kevin (Sheila) Koenig, Mike (Kathy) Koenig, and Gloria (Randy) Chapin.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Family will meet with friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
