Kenneth L. Logan SOUTH OGDEN – Kenneth LaVerne Logan, 97, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at his home. He was born September 20, 1912 in Clyde, Pennsylvania, a son of Harvey and Mary P. Jack Logan. Ken married Gladys M. McCafferty. She preceded him in death on September 17, 1980. He married Arline H. Unck on September 26, 1981 in Ogden. Ken was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from Clarion State Teachers College of Pennsylvania in 1934. He pursued graduate work at the University of Colorado, the University of Michigan, and the University of Pittsburgh where he received his Masters Degree in Education in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps for two years in pilot training during World War II. He served 35 years in public school systems in Pennsylvania, retiring on January 1, 1971 as the superintendent of the Carlynton School District. Ken enjoyed writing, traveling, skiing, camping, motorcycling, and hiking. He loved sports cars, ballroom dancing and could fix anything. Surviving are his wife, Arline, of South Ogden; one son and one daughter, Gary (Glenda) Logan, South Ogden; Sharon (Joe) Logan-Palmer; Georgia; stepsons, Steve (Cora) Noorda, LA; Rick (Linda) Noorda, Ogden; Norm (Linda) Unck, Ogden; David (Kathy) Unck, NE; LaRon (Barbara) Unck, South Jordan; John (Shirl) Unck, Ogden; Glen (Carrie) Unck, NV; 28 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Reverend Sheldon Logan, Indiana; Clifford Logan, Pennsylvania. Preceding Ken in death were his parents, his first wife Gladys, one brother, Charles, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Send condolences to the family at: www.lindquistmortuary.com
