Kenneth L. McBride
Kenneth L. McBride passed away, quietly, on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the age of 88. Kenneth was born on January 8, 1928 in Burley, Idaho to Alvin and Myrtle McBride. He spent his youth in Burley, Idaho and graduated from Burley High School in 1946. He attended and graduated from BYU where he met and married his sweetheart, Janice McBride in the Salt Lake Temple in 1953. They would have celebrated 63 years together in August.
Kenneth served an LDS mission in Brazil and upon his return, was drafted into the Army, where he was stationed in Ft. Lewis, Washington. After his service in the military, Kenneth began teaching school in California where he completed a master’s degree in education administration. Kenneth and Janice later returned to Utah where he worked as a principal for 24 years in the Davis County School District. Kenneth and Janice raised six beautiful and successful children who blessed him with 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Ken was an active member of the LDS church all his life and served in many capacities. Kenneth and Janice served a Family Search Mission in Salt Lake City as well as a mission at the historic sites in St. George, UT. After his retirement, Kenneth volunteered his time for 17 years at various places, including: Salt Palace Visitor Center, the Church Museum of History and Art, Pioneer Village and the Utah Heritage Foundation.
He is survived by his wife, Janice McBride, his children Kathy Mooney (Rob), Scott McBride, Eric McBride, Karen Barlow, Carol Jones (Craig), Colleen Keddington (Mike), 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Elva Merkley and Bonnie Bartlett.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N 400 E. where friends may visit family Wednesday, July 27th from 6-8 pm and Thursday 9:30-10:30 am prior to service Interment Centerville City Cemetery.
