Kent Blakeley Brooks
September 7, 1940 ~ August 23, 2014
Kent was surrounded with the love of his family when he passed away on August 23, 2014. Kent was born on September 7, 1940 in Ogden to Francis Dale and Bessy Allison Blakeley Brooks. Kent lost his mother at the age of two. His father then married Evelyn Woodward.
Kent roamed the streets, rivers, foothills and mountains of Ogden his whole young life. He had a story for every part of town.
Kent married Carolyn Bingham (1957-1960) together they had two children, Lyn (Chris) Anderson and Layne Kent. Kent joined the Army and served in Germany. When he returned to Ogden he met Peggy Jones, his lifelong partner of 50 years. Together they started and operated Kent’s Texaco in Clearfield. They had four children, Jeri (George) Miconi, Christine (Ron) Stokes, Kent Dale Brooks, and David (Kristy) Brooks.
Kent and Peggy sold their business and home in Roy and set out on an adventure. They spent one year in Bullhead City, AZ and then settled in Overton, NV. As Kent’s condition declined, they returned to Ogden.
Kent suffered with what he called CRS (Can’t Remember Sh**), medically known as Dementia, which finally took his life. Kent will be laid to rest in the Ogden Cemetery.
Kent is survived by his wife; children; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; mother; brother, Jerry (Sherie) Cunningham; and two sisters, Sandra (Rick) Underwood and Diane Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his birth mother; father; and son, Layne Kent.
We would like to thank the many CNA’s, nurses, doctors, and others that helped care for Kent. A special thanks to Beehive Homes in Eden, George E. Wahlen Veterans Home, and Symbii Hospice.
