Kent Green

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and dear friend, Kent Green "KG", passed away on November 30, 2013, surrounded by his great golfing buddies after one final round at The Barn in Pleasant View.

He was born on August 11, 1939 to Wayne Hess and Meerita Hock Green. Raised in North Ogden, he graduated from Ben Lomond High School and later attended Weber State University. During his high school and college years, he competed in wrestling, diving, and ski racing. Shortly after his tenure at WSU, Kent moved to Sun Valley Idaho where he worked at the resort and pursued his life long love of skiing.

After a few years of living "the good life" in Sun Valley, in 1960 he returned to Ogden and married Coleen Stocking. Together, they had 1 son and 3 daughters. Kent passed his love of competitive sports on to all of his children, and become the coach of their little league football, baseball, basketball, and track teams. He and Coleen later divorced but remained great friends.

Kent had always possessed a keen interest in business and had managed several finance offices while living in Idaho. In 1961, he partnered with his father Wayne and formed Green & Son''s, a debt collection agency in Ogden. The agency grew to become one of the most successful accounts receivable management companies in the western United States, serving clients throughout the Rocky Mountain and Pacific regions of the nation. The company (now Outsource Receivables Management) currently employs a staff of 35 collection counselors, computer programmers, and support staff.

On March 2, 1975, Kent married the love of his life, Denise Johnson, in Elko Nevada. They had 1 son, and together they lived a fairy tale life.

With the introduction of commercially available computers in the early 1980s, Kent foresaw a need to manage Green & Son''s records electronically. He hired some programmers to custom develop his vision of a software package that would eliminate the need to manually track delinquent accounts on note cards, and fully automate much of the collection process. The project was such a great success for Green & Son''s that a local competitor in Salt Lake City offered to buy the software from Kent. With his first son preparing to leave on an LDS mission, Kent accepted the offer to cover the costs of the mission. This transaction evolved into Kent discovering a multi-million dollar market, and he founded DAKCS Software Systems. DAKCS, the pioneer company of the debt collection software industry, now services over 300 collection agencies, hospitals, and utility companies nationwide.

In 2005, DAKCS spawned an electronic payment processing firm, PDC4U, which handles over 250 million dollars in credit card transactions annually. Kent served as Vice President of PDC4U. Throughout his entrepreneurial career, he was known for his honesty and integrity in all of his business relationships, creating not only loyal customers but also life long friends.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was very active in and held leadership positions in several different associations, including ACA Utah Chapter President, President of the Snowbasin Ski Education Foundation, President of The Barn Golf Club Men''s Association, and member of the Weber State Roundball Club.

Kent is survived by his loving wife, Denise; sons, Chris (Jolynne) Green and Josh (Angelee) Green; daughters, Heidi (Monte) Morris, Marielle (Ken) Tanner, and Michelle (Eric) Froerer; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and sister, Connie Compton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Greg Green; and nephew, Shaun Scott.

Kent had such a passion for life and made everyone who knew him feel special. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed more than anything spending time in the great outdoors with his friends and family. He had always said his greatest accomplishment in life is that he raised the greatest children in the world. He truly lived the chorus of one of his favorite songs: "I live the kind of life most men only dream of."
