Kent W. Higgs
LAYTON – Kent went to the Big Mountain Man Rendezvous in Heaven to meet Wiley on Friday morning, June 18, 2010.
He was born November 25, 1948 in Ogden, to Bill and Helen Higgs. He graduated from Weber High School.
Kent married Laura Jean Smith on June 11, 1999 in Anaconda, Montana.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a High Priest.
He worked for Hurco, Salvation Army, Western Mill, Burns, Pinkerton and Securities Security, and Williams International. He was also a Sergeant with the U.S. Army Reserves.
Kent went by many names: Little Big Bear, Captain Caveman, Santa, Little Kenny, Loveable Hubby and Number 1 Dad. He was an artist and his scenery paintings were breath taking. He liked to hunt, fish, shoot, camp, build birdhouses, playing in his garden, doing gun shows and eating at the seafood buffet in Wendover. He collected everything and was always there to tell a fabricated story to anyone who would listen!
He leaves behind his loveable wife, Laura, children, Jessica, Jason, Richard (Emily), Russel, Roger (Amy), Racheal (Joseph) and many grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Kay Bradley, WA; and Cindi Peery, NE.
Preceding Kent in death were his parents, two brothers, Robert and Val Higgs, and stepson, Robert Vickery.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Green Leaf Ward Chapel, 2160 W. Gordon Ave., Layton, UT.
Family will visit with friends at the Ward on Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
