Kent Lamar Somerville
December 2, 1953 ~ November 12, 2018
Kent Lamar Somerville, 64, passed away unexpectedly November 12, 2018, on his 42nd wedding anniversary while on a cruise with his sweetheart.
He was born December 2, 1953 in Ogden, Utah the son of Walter and Ireta Somerville.
Kent was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in Spain from 1973-1975.
He married Vicki Landes on November 12, 1976 in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity.
He graduated from Weber State College in Accounting and worked for Mountain Fuel and Questar Gas for over 35 years before retiring in 2015. He was looking forward to traveling and spending his winters down south with his wife following her retirement on November 9th. He also loved music, camping with his family, and he was an amazing cook.
Scouting was a huge part of his life and he was a Boy Scout to the end. He earned his Eagle Scout as a boy and earned his Silver Beaver in 1992. He served in many different positions in the scouting program and worked in the scout shop following his retirement.
Kent is survived by his beloved wife Vicki, daughter Brenda (Darin) Hogge, son Jeffery (Janiell) Somerville, his grandsons Braden, Landon, and Easton, his mother Ireta, and his sisters Karen (Craig) Neiswender, Laurie (David) Cope, and Darlene Tracy. He was preceded in death by his father Walter. He will be greatly missed by many, but we rejoice in his reunion with his father, who left this earth way too early while Kent was on his mission.
