Kotcho P. Pappas, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on September 27, 2016.
Kotcho was born on December 15, 1937 in Loutra Ipatis, Greece. He was born to Parnassos and Smaragda.
He graduated from High School in Greece and came to the United States in 1955 where he started working as a sheep herder in Vail, Colorado and Price, Utah for eight years. He always preferred being in the mountains, much like the ones where he grew up in his homeland of Greece. On October 12, 1961, Kotcho married the love of his life, Margareta Kiahtipes. The young couple moved to Layton, Utah that year and Kotcho began his career in construction with E.H. Knudson Construction Company. Kotcho faithfully worked for the company for 40 years.
Kotcho loved his family, his many friends, and being an active member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in South Ogden, Utah. Among his hobbies, he loved to hunt, fish, and garden. (Oh, how he loved those grapes!!!) Greek dancing and food were very much a part of his proud heritage!
Kotcho was many things to many people and because of his boundless spirit, and the impression he made on every person that he encountered; his legacy will live on forever. Yasou Kotch!!
Kotcho is survived by his wife, Margareta; daughters, Nikki (Todd) Carrera-Williams and Conni (Tony) Battah; four grandchildren, Natasha and Myles Carrera and Camille and Tony Battah; and brothers, Nikos and Spiros. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandchild, Erica Nicole Carrera and son-in-law, Shawn Cameron Carrera.
