Kristeen Buttars Gibson died at her home in Kaysville, Utah on November 7, 2014 due to complications following a valiant 53 month battle with mastatic parotid gland cancer. She was 58.
Kris was born on July 21, 1956 in Blackfoot, Idaho. She was the 5 th of 7 children born to the late D. Omer and Eunice Bingham Buttars. She attended schools in the Weber County School district and graduated from Ogden High School in 1974. She married Blaine Gary Gibson in 1975 and, since 1985, Kris and Blaine have lived in Kaysville where they raised their family of three children. Due to her health, she retired this summer from Bowman’s Market in Kaysville as the store’s Front End Manager, where she served fellow employees and community for 25 years. Kris has always been a kind and gentle lady; she had a loving, charitable heart, and a lot of her spare time she used giving to others. The greatest legacies of her life are her children, their spouses, and being “the best Grammy ever” to her 9 grandchildren. With loving passion, Kris truly dedicated her life to her family; however, she still found time to enjoy long walks with friends, faithfully serve all of her church callings, and help many around her find their own way to love this life, enjoy their talents, and inspire them to develop virtuous characters. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, her faith in where she came from, why she was here, and where she was going gave her strong unwavering confidence to joyfully find the best in each day and live it to its fullest. Kris will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.
Her death has been preceded by her eldest sister, Renae Larsen, in 2000, her mother in 2006, and her father in 2007.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her husband Blaine, her eldest daughter Shea and her husband Dr. Charles Hamilton, along with their three children, Cameron, Ella Kristeen, and Griffen; by her son Michael and his wife Cambria (Whitear), along with their 3 children, Donavin, Rhett, and Zayva; and by her youngest daughter Andrea and her husband Steven Littlefield and their 3 children, Gavin, Merrick, and Sophia. She also leaves four sisters Nedra (Robert) Petersen, Beverly (Dan) Hunter, Cindy (Chad) Jones, and Pam (Rob) Despain; and her only brother Daniel O. Buttars and his wife Jan (Hutchens), along with all of her brother and sister’s children who are Kris’s adoring nieces and nephews.
Kris requested that her family recognize and thank her hematology/oncology doctor, Harold M. Johnson, M.D. along with his entire staff at the office of Utah Hematology and Oncology. Thank you for the good care and keeping which she received and so gratefully benefitted from over the last four and a half years. She considered all of you dear friends.
The family also wishes to extend their gratitude to the entire team of professionals at Access Hospice Home Care, with a very special thanks to RN Leeann.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. November 15, 2014 at the Kaysville Crestwood LDS Chapel, 1039 E. Crestwood Rd. Friends may visit family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 14 at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church.
