Kristine Smith

Kristine Suzanne Hofstedt Smith was born on August 11, 1947 and passed away shortly after her 71st birthday on August 24th, 2018 in her home with family at her side to be reunited with her parents Conrad Alvin Hofstedt and Mabel Sowby Hofstedt as well as her sister Patty.

She was born in North Bend, OR; where she began her love for the state of Oregon and its beautiful coasts, waterfalls, and trees.  She loved all things nature and had a great love of photography because of all the beauty that surrounded her there.

She also had a great love of music and all things crafty especially glitter.  She got the nickname glitter face from when she worked in the rubber stamp industry and began making handmade cards and crafts.  She found that everything always looked better with just a little glitter and would always have some on her face no matter the day or time.

Kris is survived by her five children, step-daughter LaVon (Michael) Jackson, daughters Cheralyn Jerome, Carrie (Aaron) Hannah, Shauna Lainhart, Janel Simpson, and 17 grandchildren.

We appreciate all the love and support given to mom and our family as we found out about her cancer just a few short months ago and all that came with it.

She was such a light and true follower of Christ.  She has a strong testimony of forever families and I know she is rejoicing in her reunion with her family above and will continue to watch over her family here below.  She will truly be missed but is leaving a legacy of love and light.

Her favorite word has always been “Joy” and she has shown throughout her life what that word means, and has been able to find “Joy in the journey”.  May her legacy of “Joy” live on for generations to come.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Syracuse Stake Center, 1350 S. 1800 W., Syracuse.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
