Kurt J. VanDerWoude passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in Boise, Idaho while doing what he loved to do, racing horses.

He was born October 10, 1963 in Ogden, Utah to Klaas and Martha Lillegard VanDerWoude.

In May 1985, Kurt married Janet Avondet and together they had three children. They later divorced.

He enjoyed racing horses and demolition derbies. He loved his precious little dog, Heart.

Survivors include his mother, Martha, one sister, Danice (Mikel) Kilfoyle, two daughters, Tricia VanDerWoude, Katie VanDerWoude, two sons, Bryan VanDerWoude, Michael Trice, and Justin VanDerWoude, who was just like a son.

He was preceded in death by his father, Klaas, brother, Keven, his grandparents and a nephew, KJ VanZweden. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 18th at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family will meet with friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lindquistmortuary.com
